Concept ,ČLOVĚK' in Václav Havel's work

Pojem ČLOVĚK v textech Václava Havla Veronika Dajčová Abstract This bachelor thesis analyses the term ČLOVĚK (human being) in selected essays and letters by Václav Havel. In the perespective of cognitive linguistics and ethnolinguistics, of which theoretical and methodological approaches are defined in the opening part, the linguistic image of ,člověk' (human being) in the czech language is defined, based on dictionary data analysis. The core of the thesis focuses on the conceptualization of ‚člověk' in selected texts by V. Havel and on the analysis of metaphors and narative structures in which ‚člověk' appears. Based on this basis, the cognitive definition of ‚člověk' in the context of Havel's work is defined, the term is put in context of related terms and the question of the belonging to other key terms of Havel's work is answered in the conclusion. The thesis is inspired by ethnolinguistic analysis of the terms in Havel's work in works by David S. Danaher.
